What are the best roller blades for beginners?

I'm new to skating, what is a beginner friendly skate? New skater's tend to start with a pair of recreation skates. These skates are very user friendly as they offer support while skaters find their confidence on wheels. Most of these skates will feature the boa closure system, which gives skaters the control to lock in the perfect fit without a lace loosening up.

Is roller skating harder than roller blading?

I want to pick up skating but not sure which method is easier to learn? This discussion topic has been long debated, but there isn't a clear answer. There are pros and cons to each and each have various benefits. Both methods are a fun fitness activity that can be done as a family. The stability and balance needed for each is slightly different but both are a total body workout.

The best way to decide is to head to your local roller rink and test them out for yourself. Try out each type of skates to see what is right for you before you invest.

What is my inline skate size?

I wear a men's 14 in street shoes, do you carry large roller blades? Is my street shoe same as my rollerblade size? Prior to ordering skates, we suggest you review the sizing guide to ensure the best fit. Keep in mind that new skate padding will need a break in period. New rollerblade boots should be supportive but not tight. After several sessions the rollerblade liner will form to your feet.

Skates.com carries plenty of sizes to provide skates for the whole family. We also carry many skate styles in women's sizes. Check out our inline skates for women.

Adjustable inline skates for kids

Keeping kids in skates can get expense fast, as they are still growing. Skates.com also carries adjustable skates for kids. How does this type of rollerblade work? The rollerblade boot is designed to be adjusted a few sizes to grow with your child's feet. This is a great way to save money while keeping your kids active. Check out our adjustable roller blades.

Can you lose weight rollerblading?

Sure can, a 30 minute inline skating session can burn approximately 260 calories! There are many other benefits as well, ranging from building endurance, mood enhancement, and muscle strengthening. Plus inline skating is much easier on your joints in comparison to running. Have fun while working on your fitness goals! Let's be friends, follow us on social media!

What should I look for in wheels?

Both size and durometer will impact your rollerblade performance. If you are looking for speed, go with larger wheels between 90 - 110 mm.  If you looking for more maneuverability and control, go with smaller wheels. Recreation skates usually come with 70-80 mm wheels. We also offer bearings at an affordable price for when your skates need some maintenance.  Any orders over $99 enjoy for free shipping
